U.S. inflation data for August, released last month, solidified market expectations for a Fed rate cut, propelling the DJIA up by 617 points, or 1.4%. Hong Kong stocks opened strongly higher on Friday. The HSI jumped up 453 points, or 1.7%, to 26,539. The HSCEI added 160 points, or 1.7%, to 9,420. The HSTECH climbed 115 points, or 2.0%, to 6,004.

BABA-W (09988.HK)  +7.800 (+5.443%)    Short selling $5.60B; Ratio 21.604%   opened 5.9% higher at HKD151.7, boosted by its US$3.2 billion notes priced at HKD188.08 per share and an 8% surge in its ADR. JD-SW (09618.HK)  +1.900 (+1.464%)    Short selling $375.65M; Ratio 14.511%   rallied 3.5% at the open after the French government requested additional details regarding its proposed acquisition of Germany’s Ceconomy.

For other techs, TENCENT (00700.HK)  +14.000 (+2.224%)    Short selling $2.72B; Ratio 20.299%   soared 2.5% to HKD645. MEITUAN-W (03690.HK)  0.000 (0.000%)    Short selling $1.09B; Ratio 10.363%   went up 0.5%.
