At the opening ceremony of the UK-China Investment Exchange Series and Invest in China Session, David Liao, Co-CEO of Asia and Middle East at HSBC, said that the Chinese market will continue to attract global investors with innovation driving China's economic growth.

The strong performance of China's capital markets this year has prompted overseas institutional investors to accelerate their allocation to Chinese assets, Liao added. While enthusiasm for investing in China remained high, Chinese outbound investment was becoming increasingly dynamic.

Liao cited HSBC's survey showing more than 80% of Chinese companies surveyed plan to expand into new overseas markets and increase trade with Europe, the Middle East, as well as Southeast and South Asia.

Meanwhile, many Chinese firms are evolving from technology followers into global innovation leaders. By leveraging the resource advantages and industrial structures of their overseas destinations, they are building global competitiveness during the restructuring of industrial supply chains, while integrating into local markets.
