Hong Kong bourse was shored up by news that certain policy measures to expand service consumption in mainland China may be introduced soon. The HSI opened 77 points higher; with gains expanding later, it soared 413 points to peak at 25,471 in the afternoon. It finished up 359 points, or 1.4%, at 25,417. The HSCEI rose 120 points, or 1.3%, to 9,057. The HSTECH gained 108 points, or 1.9%, closing at 5,687. The total market turnover for the day was HKD299.945 billion.

The HSI quarterly review took effect after market close, with CHINA TELECOM (00728.HK)  +0.040 (+0.702%)    Short selling $45.07M; Ratio 7.243%   and POP MART (09992.HK)  -22.000 (-7.106%)    Short selling $579.24M; Ratio 6.189%   , newly included in the index, adding 0.5% and 1%, respectively, while JD LOGISTICS (02618.HK)  +0.440 (+3.361%)    Short selling $31.10M; Ratio 6.050%   surged 3.1%.

In the tech sector, TENCENT (00700.HK)  +12.000 (+1.982%)    Short selling $2.19B; Ratio 16.382%   , BABA-W (09988.HK)  +5.500 (+4.173%)    Short selling $3.74B; Ratio 18.607%   , MEITUAN-W (03690.HK)  -1.000 (-0.971%)    Short selling $1.30B; Ratio 13.131%   , and JD-SW (09618.HK)  +1.300 (+1.065%)    Short selling $139.61M; Ratio 10.460%   lifted 1.5-2.2%. Chip makers SMIC (00981.HK)  -0.550 (-0.937%)    Short selling $252.60M; Ratio 4.521%   and HUA HONG SEMI (01347.HK)  -0.480 (-1.009%)    Short selling $107.83M; Ratio 7.372%   rallied 4.8% and 4.2%, respectively, while server manufacturer LENOVO GROUP (00992.HK)  -0.330 (-3.000%)    Short selling $108.90M; Ratio 8.585%   mounted 3.4%.

As to autos, XIAOMI-W (01810.HK)  +1.100 (+2.050%)    Short selling $568.02M; Ratio 9.987%   , which plans to export cars to overseas markets by 2027, saw its stock grow 1.4%. Autonomous driving chip company HORIZONROBOT-W (09660.HK)  +0.690 (+7.034%)    Short selling $651.58M; Ratio 11.434%   swelled 9.1%. The "World Smart Industry Expo 2025" opened in Chongqing.
