The Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) announced that the area of low pressure over Luzon will enter the South China Sea and intensify into a tropical cyclone. It is expected to enter within 800 kilometres of Hong Kong tonight. The Observatory will issue the Standby Signal, No. 1 by then.
