The Swiss Federal Council has held a crisis meeting on the US 39% tariff on Swiss imports. Following the meeting, a statement was issued indicating that Switzerland is prepared to present more attractive proposals in trade negotiations with the US.

The statement also expressed Switzerland's determination to continue the trade negotiations. If necessary, they will be extended beyond the scheduled tariff implementation on August 7.
