Han Dadong, a Level 2 inspector and Director of the Automotive Industry Division at the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, said that Shanghai will systematically expand the open areas for autonomous driving, according to The Paper.

The goal is to achieve global opening of autonomous driving test roads in Pudong New District by the end of this year, meanwhile promoting the opening of areas such as Fengxian and Minhang.

However, the global opening of Pudong this year will not include key areas like Lujiazui, mainly because the traffic in these areas is already quite busy. Minhang District will open key areas such as the Hongqiao Transportation Hub, while Fengxian District will not fully open yet due to the current limited application.
