US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said that US President Donald Trump likes TikTok as it is a good way to communicate with young people, but emphasized that TikTok's US operations must be owned by the US.

Currently, about 170 million Americans are using TikTok. Lutnick added that TikTok needs to face reality. The US cannot allow a Chinese company to have an app on 100 million American phones, which is simply not feasible. Therefore, TikTok must be owned by the US and must adopt US technology and algorithms.
