Following the S&P 500 and Nasdaq touching new peaks on Monday, investors eyed on the latest corporate earnings and new trade war developments. US stocks mostly ascended on Tuesday, although the Nasdaq closed lower.

The Nasdaq dipped 81 points or 0.4% for the day, closing at 20,892, marking its first decline in seven trading days. The S&P 500 added 4 points, closing at 6,309, setting a new closing high for the 11th time this year. The DJIA finished up 179 points or 0.4%, at 44,502.

Chip stocks were suppressed, with reports indicating that SoftBank and OpenAI's US$500 billion AI project, Stargate, is currently stalled. Broadcom (AVGO.US)      sagged over 3%, while NVIDIA (NVDA.US)      and TSMC (TSM.US)      slid 2%.
