DONGFENG GROUP (00489.HK)  -0.160 (-3.168%)    Short selling $35.44M; Ratio 9.351%   opened 0.4% lower at $4.7 today (22nd), and then spiked by as much as 16.3% to $5.49, setting an over-5-month high since mid-February 2025. The stock last printed at $5.21, surging 10.38%, with a trading volume of 134 million shares, involving $702 million.

It closed at $3.53 on 7 July 2025, and has been rising continuously since then, accumulating approximately 47.6% gain over about two weeks based on the current price.

Morgan Stanley recently said that the rise in DONGFENG GROUP's stock price is likely due to the recent 'anti-involution' advocacy by policymakers, which may ease price wars and benefit traditional auto OEMs. In addition to fundamental improvements, Morgan Stanley mentioned feedback from some investors indicating that DONGFENG GROUP might undergo potential SOE restructuring.
