Last weekend, Taobao Instant Commerce's single-day subsidies exceeded those of Meituan, with astonishing amounts, The Paper reported, citing people familiar with the matter quoted by recent media reports.

The alleged subsidy amounts as claimed by unknown sources were entirely inaccurate, the report quoted frontline Taobao Instant Commerce operations personnel as clarifying.

Some platforms in the market engage in massive "money burning" on fake orders through "zero-cost purchase" schemes, but this is definitely not the case with Taobao Instant Commerce, the operations personnel said.

The operations personnel added that Taobao Instant Commerce's discount and free order activities have thresholds and are regular marketing actions used over the long term.

They emphasized that the company ensures merchants' actual receipts and profit margins, and there are strict internal regulations prohibiting any "zero-cost purchase" fake order activities.
