German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said in an interview with Germany's ARD that he is very committed to finding a trade solution with the US and will closely cooperate with Ursula von der Leyen, head of the EU's executive Commission, and Emmanuel Macron, French President, in the next two and a half weeks.

When asked about the impact of the US slapping a 30% tariff on Germany, Merz answered that if it really happens, Germany will have to delay most of its economic policy work as it would disrupt everything and batter the German export industry to the core.
