The Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) issued a Red Rainstorm Warning Signal at 9:36 an today (10th), meaning that heavy rain has fallen or is expected to fall generally over Hong Kong, exceeding 50 millimeters in an hour, and is likely to continue.

In the past hour, more than 2,000 strokes of cloud-to-ground lightning were recorded within Hong Kong, and intense gusts reaching 70 kilometers per hour or above is expected to affect Hong Kong.

Further heavy rain could cause serious road flooding and traffic congestion. People who have to travel should carefully consider the weather and road conditions and take necessary precautions. Squally thunderstorms are expected to occur over Hong Kong.

Thunderstorm Warning is currently in effect until 12:30 pm.
