US President Donald Trump said that a 25% tariff will be imposed on Japan starting 1 August.

Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba responded that he has received a letter from the US regarding the new tariff rate, and was “very sorry” about it. Ishiba instructed relevant officials to continue negotiations with the US in order to reach a bilateral trade agreement that would be beneficial to both countries.
