Due to the continuous weakening demand since June, solar glass manufacturers have begun to reduce production, according to UBS' research report.

However, according to channel data, the cut rate may not reach the market rumors of 30%, and it is estimated that the production cut rate of about 10-20% is a more reasonable level, which will lead to a monthly effective production capacity of about 45-50GW.

Nevertheless, UBS noted that some of the production lines were only temporarily shut down, and that once the price of solar glass starts to rebound, it is expected that companies can increase output again.

Besides solar glass production cuts, the authorities are also expected to promote the PV main supply chain capacity and production cuts, possibly starting from the polysilicon segment, the broker added.
