Depending on the development of the area of low pressure currently located north of Luzon and its impact on Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) stated that it will assess whether to issue a tropical cyclone warning signal from later tomorrow (4th) to Saturday (5th).

According to the HKO, the area of low pressure now to the north of Luzon will develop into a tropical cyclone gradually in the next couple of days, and enter within 800 kilometers of Hong Kong. As indicated by the present forecast, the area of low pressure will linger over the vicinity of the northeastern part of the South China Sea and intensify. There are uncertainties in its subsequent movement. It is more likely to turn northwards in the general direction of the vicinity of Taiwan to the coast of eastern Guangdong.
