China plans to invite US President Donald Trump to attend a military parade to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, which will be held on 3 September at Tiananmen Square in Beijing, Kyodo News quoted sources as saying.

The US also proposed that Xi Jinping should visit the US during the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) to be held in New York in September.

Even if Trump is eager to visit China, the Chinese government believed that the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, known for his hawkish stance on China, and many other senior officials of the US, may oppose Trump's attendance at the military parade, the sources added.
