In response to recent statements by US officials and media claiming that China and the US have reached a supplementary understanding on implementing the Geneva consensus framework, with China accelerating rare earth exports to the US and the US canceling related restrictions on China, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China (MOFCOM) said that, under the guidance of the consensus between the leaders of China and the US, trade teams from both countries held trade talks in London from 9-10 June, at which they reached a principled agreement on implementing the important consensus from the leaders' call on 5 June and consolidating the results of the trade talks in Geneva.

Following the London talks, teams from both countries maintained close communication. Recently, upon approval, both sides further confirmed the framework details. China will approve export applications for controlled items that meet the conditions, and the US will cancel a series of restrictive measures against China accordingly.

It is hoped that the US join China's efforts for the shared goal, in accordance with the important consensus and requirements from the leaders' call on 5 June, further giving full play to the US-China economic and trade consultation mechanism, continuing to enhance consensus, minimize misunderstandings and strengthen cooperation, so as to jointly promote the healthy, stable and sustainable development of the US-China economic and trade relations.
