Summer is the peak period for electricity load throughout the year, and hence the key to energy supply is electricity, opined Li Chao, Deputy Director of the Policy Research Office of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).

It is expected that the national maximum electricity load during this summer's peak period will spike by about 100 million kilowatts YoY. In response to this situation, the NDRC, in collaboration with relevant parties, has focused on ensuring power supply by implementing a series of measures and making early arrangements to provide strong support for this summer's electricity supply.

Based on the current situation, the power supply and demand situation this summer is better than the last, and the overall national power supply and demand balance is generally assured, Li noted.
