Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East de-fused, as U.S. President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire between Israel and Iran. The DJIA futures last jumped up 197 points or 0.46% at 43,098, while S&P 500 and Nasdaq futures edged up 0.5% and 0.7%, respectively.

International oil prices sagged over 2% in electronic trading. Major Asia-Pacific stock markets were in good shape this morning (24th), with the HSI sustaining its uptrend from the previous trading day, opening 143 points or 0.6% higher at 23,832. The benchmark index soared 450 points or 1.9%, peaking at an intraday high of 24,139. The HSTECH last swelled nearly 2.1% at 5,293. Hong Kong stock turnover hit HKD90.761 billion.

Resources stocks fared well, with CHINAHONGQIAO (01378.HK)  +0.220 (+1.300%)    Short selling $51.43M; Ratio 20.483%   once spiking 8.7% to a historical high of HKD17.28 after issuing a positive profit alert to predict an about 35% YoY upswing in net profit in 1H25. It last posted at HKD16.96, up 6.67%, with a turnover of HKD484 million. Peer CHALCO (02600.HK)  -0.050 (-0.943%)    Short selling $8.98M; Ratio 7.116%   also shot up 3.5%. Additionally, CMOC (03993.HK)  +0.010 (+0.142%)    Short selling $7.46M; Ratio 15.486%   mounted 4%; ZIJIN MINING (02899.HK)  +0.280 (+1.454%)    Short selling $119.87M; Ratio 34.612%   , JIANGXI COPPER (00358.HK)  +0.100 (+0.724%)    Short selling $2.92M; Ratio 8.261%   , and MMG (01208.HK)  -0.050 (-1.484%)    Short selling $13.15M; Ratio 16.960%   elevated between 1.9% and 2.4%. CNBM (03323.HK)  +0.030 (+0.811%)    Short selling $3.60M; Ratio 13.559%   and CONCH CEMENT (00914.HK)  +0.080 (+0.408%)    Short selling $4.11M; Ratio 9.418%   gained between 1.8% and 3%.

Two major blue-chip Chinese insurers, CHINA LIFE (02628.HK)  +0.420 (+2.178%)    Short selling $64.92M; Ratio 5.856%   and PING AN (02318.HK)  +0.750 (+1.502%)    Short selling $339.43M; Ratio 15.435%   , each rallied over 3%. Heavyweight stock AIA (01299.HK)  -0.200 (-0.282%)    Short selling $76.74M; Ratio 8.854%   jumped up over 3%.

Automakers surged, with BYD COMPANY (01211.HK)  +0.600 (+0.461%)    Short selling $467.15M; Ratio 41.430%   , LI AUTO-W (02015.HK)  -0.400 (-0.358%)    Short selling $109.00M; Ratio 24.136%   , XIAOMI-W (01810.HK)  -0.050 (-0.088%)    Short selling $492.81M; Ratio 12.004%   , and GEELY AUTO (00175.HK)  -0.220 (-1.294%)    Short selling $106.41M; Ratio 16.945%   each rocketing over 3%.

Three new consumption “star stocks” softened against the market. LAOPU GOLD (06181.HK)  +3.000 (+0.349%)    Short selling $31.70M; Ratio 12.911%   , which is about to see 140 million shares unlocked, last stood at HKD873.5, down 0.85%, with a turnover of HKD439 million. MIXUE GROUP (02097.HK)  -2.500 (-0.469%)   last printed at HKD526.5, down 0.94%, with a turnover of HKD97.9959 million. POP MART (09992.HK)  -4.200 (-1.665%)    Short selling $241.24M; Ratio 11.855%   last traded at HKD241.8, down 0.98%, with a turnover of HKD1.87 billion.
