In May, China imported 47,000 vehicles, down 25% YoY and up 9% MoM, Cui Dongshu, Secretary-General of the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), said. In 5M25, the number of imported vehicles amounted to 180,000, down 33% YoY.

Since peaking at 1.43 million units in 2014, imported cars have been continuously shrinking, with total imports in 2024 reaching only 700,000 units, down 12% YoY, reflecting intensified downside pressure on the imported car market.
