The Federal Reserve upheld the federal funds rate target range as expected. Tensions in the Middle East aggravated, with foreign media citing sources that U.S. senior officials are preparing for a possible attack on Iran in the coming days, potentially as early as this weekend, although the situation is still developing and final plans may change.

U.S. stock market closed tonight (19th), with U.S. stock futures slightly down. The DJIA futures last dropped 61 points or 0.14% at 42,451; S&P 500 futures and Nasdaq futures sank 0.19% and 0.33%, respectively.

Pharmaceuticals led the decline, with CSPC PHARMA (01093.HK)  -0.030 (-0.394%)    Short selling $260.30M; Ratio 10.582%   diving 6%, the largest plunge among blue chips. WUXI BIO (02269.HK)  +0.050 (+0.207%)    Short selling $232.02M; Ratio 19.833%   and HANSOH PHARMA (03692.HK)  0.000 (0.000%)    Short selling $180.96M; Ratio 35.646%   each sagged about 4%. SINO BIOPHARM (01177.HK)  +0.090 (+1.856%)    Short selling $145.25M; Ratio 19.652%   also cratered about 3%. The two major online pharmaceutical blue chips, ALI HEALTH (00241.HK)  +0.010 (+0.231%)    Short selling $110.56M; Ratio 21.465%   and JD HEALTH (06618.HK)  -0.150 (-0.379%)    Short selling $50.88M; Ratio 17.493%   , each dived 4.6% and 3.7%.

Heavyweight techs were subdued, with KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK)  +0.500 (+0.888%)    Short selling $443.17M; Ratio 23.959%   , JD-SW (09618.HK)  -0.400 (-0.321%)    Short selling $742.34M; Ratio 28.281%   , MEITUAN-W (03690.HK)  +0.400 (+0.312%)    Short selling $1.18B; Ratio 14.808%   , and TRIP.COM-S (09961.HK)  +1.000 (+0.225%)    Short selling $385.35M; Ratio 15.701%   each down about 3-4%.
