The EU has escalated its investigation into BABA-W (09988.HK)  +1.100 (+1.000%)    Short selling $918.10M; Ratio 14.959%   's AliExpress, accusing the company of failing to address the sale of illegal products on its platform.

AliExpress has been under investigation by the EU for compliance with the Digital Services Act since March 2024. The European Commission recently stated that the company hasn't adequately reviewed the goods sold on its website and has failed to enforce penalties against sellers who have repeatedly violated the rules. According to preliminary findings, AliExpress now has a risk of being fined.
