Trump Administration Intends to Add 36 More Countries to Travel Ban: Report

Following US President Donald Trump's earlier announcement banning citizens from 12 countries from entering the US, foreign media report that the Trump administration is considering expanding travel restrictions to include an additional 36 countries.

Reuters cited an internal memorandum from the US State Department as indicating that the Trump administration may prohibit citizens from another 36 countries from entering the US.

This memorandum was signed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and issued last Sunday (15th), according to the report. If these 36 countries fail to meet the established benchmarks and requirements within 60 days, they may be recommended for a full or partial suspension of entry.

These 36 countries are: Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Benin, Bhutan, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Cambodia, Cameroon, Cote d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Dominican Republic, Ethiopia, Egypt, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Kyrgyzstan, Liberia, Malawi, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, South Sudan, Syria, Tanzania, Tonga, Tuvalu, Uganda, Vanuatu, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
