Investors weighed international trade conditions and the latest U.S. economic data, leading U.S. stocks to open lower and close higher on Thursday. The DJIA sagged as much as 259 points to bottom at 42,606 before closing up 101 points or 0.2% at 42,967. The Nasdaq finished up 46 points or 0.2% at 19,662. The S&P 500 rose 23 points or 0.4% to conclude at 6,045.

Boeing (BA.US)      slid 4.8% throughout the day following the crash of an Air India 787 aircraft five minutes after takeoff.

Related NewsCore PPI MoM for May in United States is 0.1%, higher than the previous value of -0.2%. The forecast was 0.3%.
Oracle (ORCL.US)      beat expectations in its 4FQ revenue and earnings, with anticipated accelerated growth in its cloud business, shoring its stock price up by 13.3% to US$199.86, a record closing high.

Techs were mixed, with Tesla (TSLA.US)      down 2.2%; Nvidia (NVDA.US)      up 1.5%; and Apple (AAPL.US)      up 0.2%.
