China imposed in early April export controls on seven types of medium and heavy rare earth elements and several types of magnets that require exporters to obtain relevant permits.

During a press conference held by China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) today (6th), a Japanese reporter mentioned that Japanese automaker Suzuki Motor has suspended production of its main compact cars in Japan due to delays in parts procurement as a result of China's rare earth export controls.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Lin Jian stated that China's export control measures are consistent with international practices. They are non-discriminatory, and they won't target at any specific country.
