A White House spokesperson indicated that the US and Chinese presidents may hold a phone call this week, shoring up the DJIA by 35 points and the Nasdaq by 0.7%. Hong Kong bourse opened higher, with the HSI up 123 points, or 0.5%, at 23,281. The HSCEI lifted 47 points, or 0.6%, to 8,407, and the HSTECH gained 27 points, or 0.5%, to 5,162.
