Hong Kong's Chief Executive John Lee met with reporters this morning (27th) ahead of the Executive Council meeting, stating that the Convention on the Establishment of The International Organization for Mediation will be signed in Hong Kong this Friday (30th). The establishment of the Organization brings paramount benefits, enhancing Hong Kong's international status and generating substantial economic benefits. It will create job opportunities in services such as mediators and translators, and promote jobs related to the conference economy, such as in the hotel, catering, logistics, and transportation sectors, thereby creating more business opportunities. It will also refine Hong Kong's legal system, promote the popularization of mediation culture, gather global legal talents, focus on mediation in Hong Kong, and fortify Hong Kong's position as an international legal center.Wang Yi, member of the Central Political Bureau and Foreign Minister of China, will come to Hong Kong to attend the signing ceremony of the Convention. John Lee expressed his encouragement by Wang Yi's presence and stated that the Hong Kong government attaches great importance to this.Lee mentioned that later today, the Working Group on Promoting Silver Economy will hold a press conference to announce measures in five areas, including promoting silver consumption, developing the silver industry, promoting silver quality assurance, promoting silver financial and security arrangements, and unleashing silver production potential.
