Secretary for Transport and Logistics, Mable Chan, said at a panel meeting of the Legislative Council that MTR CORPORATION (00066.HK)  +0.250 (+0.928%)    Short selling $11.71M; Ratio 25.591%   must allocate a total of $19.2 million to compensate passengers for the power supply and signal system failure incident on the Tseung Kwan O Line last Thursday (22 May).

Coupled with the engineering train incidents in February and April, MTR CORPORATION will arrange a special fare day offering half price discounts for passengers as required by the mechanism.

The Hong Kong government is extremely concerned about the multiple incidents involving MTR CORPORATION in recent months, which have caused inconvenience to the public, Chan added.
