White House Reportedly Reviewing Apple AI Collaboration Plan with BABA

The US White House and Congressional officials have been reviewing Apple (AAPL.US)      's AI collaboration plan with BABA-W (09988.HK)  +2.400 (+2.013%)    Short selling $1.22B; Ratio 8.282%   over the past few months, as Apple looks to bring its AI, Apple Intelligence, to China, with BABA-W as one of the partners, the New York Times quoted sources as saying.

It is reported that US authorities are concerned that this collaboration could help Chinese firms enhance their AI capabilities, expand the influence of Chinese chatbots, and increase Apple's legal risk exposure regarding scrutiny and data sharing in Beijing.

The White House and the House of Representatives Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party have directly raised concerns with Apple's senior management about this collaboration, inquiring about the terms of the collaboration, what data Apple will share with BABA-W and whether any legal commitments will be signed with Chinese regulators.
