During a press conference held this afternoon, China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC) was asked by reporters about the next steps in China-US economic and trade talks, according to CCTV News.

He Yungian, spokesperson for the MOC, answered that from May 10 to 11, Vice Premier He Lifeng, serving as the Chinese lead for China-US economic and trade talks, met with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Trade Representative Jamieson Greer in Geneva for high-level discussions.

The two sides engaged in candid, in-depth, and constructive communication focused on implementing the important consensus reached during the January 17 phone call between the Chinese and US presidents, He said. They reached a series of important agreements, made substantial progress, and issued the Joint Statement on US-China Economic and Trade Meeting in Geneva.

Moving forward, He emphasized that China and the US will maintain communication on their respective concerns in the economic and trade field, in accordance with the consensus reached at the Geneva talks.
