Stephen Ng, Chairman of WHARF REIC (01997.HK)  -0.200 (-1.024%)    Short selling $7.53M; Ratio 12.882%   , revealed that the company's retail properties in Tsim Sha Tsui performed well during the May Day Golden Week, while the performance in Causeway Bay was somewhat disappointing, which he attributed to changes in tourist spending habits.

As for the WHARF REIC's hotels in Tsim Sha Tsui, overall room revenue saw a double-digit YoY increase, with occupancy rates similar to last year and room rates showing improvement, Ng added.

Given the current market conditions, Ng stressed that renewed rents will remain restrained and leasing will be handled with greater flexibility. He hoped that high occupancy rates could be maintained, while rental income would stay at a reasonable level.
