After attending G2E Asia last week, Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, the Secretary of Macau Government Tourism Office, said that Macau intends to develop long-haul visitor sources from the Middle East and Muslim this year, and will also work with Hong Kong's industry to explore the possibility of linking up with Beijing and Shanghai to develop multi-destination tourism.

The average daily visitor arrivals during the Labour Day Golden Week were higher than the expected 140,000, with an average of 170,000 visitors recorded eventually and 220,000 visitors even recorded on the second day of the holiday, she added.

As for long-haul passengers, Fernandes said the Macau government has already cooperated with CATHAY PAC AIR (00293.HK)  +0.060 (+0.618%)    Short selling $17.21M; Ratio 21.057%   and Air Macau, and explored closer cooperation with cruise ships, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, Shenzhen's airport and even China's airline industry, as well as developing links with Beijing and Shanghai for multi-destination tourism.
