Ta Kung Pao published an op-ed article yesterday (May 1) criticizing CKH for selling its ports at such a critical moment when China and the US are in a "life-or-death war" in a certain sense. Handing over strategic assets to a US consortium is, as indicated by the article, no different from aiding the enemy.

CKH has turned a deaf ear to China's grave concern and stern warning expressed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and State Administration for Market Regulation regarding the sale of the ports, said the article. If the company insists on proceeding with the sales, it will inevitably end up battered and bruised.

The article also warned that CKH will face extremely serious consequences if it persists in selling the ports, as the available legal tools are not limited to the anti-monopoly law. Whenever necessary, all national security laws can be invoked.
