Gold prices broke the ceiling to a new high of US$3,300 per ounce on Wednesday, mainly due to the weaker USD and the escalation of trade tensions between China and the US, which caused investors to turn to safe haven assets. Spot gold mounted 3.1% to US$3,327.8 per ounce, after hitting an all-time high of US$3,343 during the day.
