Hong Kong bourse zigzagged to thrive as markets awaited the U.S. Federal Reserve’s interest rate decision. At close, the HSI rose 30 points, or 0.1%, at 24,771. The HSCEI fell 14 points, or 0.2%, to 9,163. The HSTECH dropped 64 points, or 1.1%, to 6,041. Total market turnover for the day reached HKD271.859 billion.

XIAOMI-W (01810.HK)  +0.700 (+1.187%)    Short selling $742.97M; Ratio 10.147%   reported a 69% YoY increase in 4Q24 adjusted net profit, topping expectations and prompting several major brokers to raise their target prices. Its stock gained 1% to HKD58.2, hitting a new intraday high of HKD59.45. XPENG-W (09868.HK)  -1.050 (-1.462%)    Short selling $153.77M; Ratio 21.864%   saw its non-GAAP net loss narrow to RMB1.39 billion last quarter, though its share price sagged 5.8%. TME-SW (01698.HK)  +3.350 (+4.608%)    Short selling $875.42K; Ratio 2.172%   posted a 35% YoY net profit rise for 2024 and approved a new USD1 billion share repurchase program, lifting its stock by 14.5%.
