HSBC announced the launch of a new fixed rate mortgage plan. With immediate effect, customers can choose between a 3- or 5-year fixed rate mortgage plan with an interest rate as low as 3.03% per annum, 47 bps lower than the current floating interest rate.

A survey conducted by HSBC last year shows that more than 60% of respondents would consider choosing a fixed rate mortgage if the fixed interest rate is about 40 bps below the floating rate, Catherine Chui, Head of Mortgage, Wealth and Personal Banking of Hong Kong at HSBC, said.
