South Korea's Acting President Choi Sang-mok stated that the recent launch of the AI model R1 by Chinese AI company DeepSeek has set off new shockwaves that may reshape the AI industry landscape, Korean media reported.

DeepSeek R1 can deliver high performance at a low cost, which will intensify global AI competition and impact other software sectors, further complicating the wrestle for national core technologies, Choi noted.
