Citing sources, Chinese media reported that Toyota's joint venture in China is planning to introduce plug-in hybrid vehicles in the next 2-3 years plans, involving about 2-3 models. The technology route is very likely to not be the extension of Toyota's original Hybrid architecture, and may instead adopt BYD COMPANY (01211.HK)  -4.800 (-2.268%)    Short selling $356.19M; Ratio 31.572%   's DMI technology.

It is learnt that, according to Toyota sources, even if Toyota adopts BYD's DMI technology, new polishing and tuning will be carried out, and the final model driving experience will also be different.
