Indonesian industrial park developer, Suryacipta Swadaya, announced that BYD COMPANY (01211.HK)  +0.800 (+0.361%)    Short selling $173.65M; Ratio 16.237%   (002594.SZ)  +1.280 (+0.586%)   will build a new electric vehicle (EV) factory in its "Subang Smart City" industrial park. The plant is expected to occupy more than 108 hectares of land and will be the largest tenant in the park when completed.

The new BYD plant will include production lines, a research and development center, and training facilities equipped with the latest energy-saving and environmentally friendly technologies, with the aim of creating a complete eco-system for EVs, according to a statement from Suryacipta Swadaya. The land handover is scheduled for August 2024. BYD plans to adopt a phased construction method and the new factory is expected to be officially put into operation in January 2026.
