DreamSmart Group, the maker of mainland mobile phone brand Meizu, plans to list in Hong Kong and is in discussions with CICC and Huatai Securities about a possible listing this year, Bloomberg reported, citing sources.

The company, which is owned by Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, may seek a valuation of up to RMB20 billion, depending on market conditions.

Meizu was founded about 20 years ago, initially producing MP3 music players. It later entered the smartphone market and was backed by Alibaba Group, but lost ground to fierce competition from other rivals. Geely acquired the company in 2022 and it is now developing AI capabilities.
