German automaker Mercedes-Benz said it reached an agreement with BMW on a joint venture to operate a high-power vehicle charging network in China.

Mercedes-Benz said in a statement that it will set up at least 1,000 high-power charging stations in China by the end of 2026, with a total of about 7,000 charging piles. The first charging stations are planned to start operating next year and will be located in areas with high EV sales. The plan is subject to regulatory approval.
