NEXT DIGITAL (00282.HK)'s Taiwan Apple Daily was acquired by Kenny Wee, a Hong Kong merchant, and Joseph Phua, co-founder of Taiwan's live streaming app "17LIVE", according to reports.

Ip Yut Kin, former chairman of NEXT DIGITAL and founder of Taiwan Apple Daily, confirmed the Taiwanese tabloid had found a new buyer, claiming most employees will be transferred to the new owner and be safely retained. Ip said he will serve as the honorary chairman.

Phua and Wee purportedly acquired the online newspaper at TWD1.5 billion for a 30% stake and a 70% stake, respectively. Taiwan Apple Daily said the transaction value was far aloft TWD300 million.
