Panasonic (PCRFF.US) is planning to build a new factory in the U.S. to supply Tesla (TSLA.US) with the latest 4680 battery cell for upcoming models such as the Tesla Semi and the Cybertruck, reported Nikkei. The plant is expected to start operation as early as 2024. While Panasonic plans to run the new facility independently, the decision will eventually be based on the profitability of new lithium-ion batteries manufactured at the Wakayama plant in Japan. The final location will be determined according to the local governments' subsidies and other supportive steps. Potential sites include Oklahoma, which is in the vicinity of Tesla's new Texas plant.(Real-time Streaming US Stocks Quote; Except All OTC quotes are at least 15 minutes delayed.)Related NewsCN MOC: US Scraping CN Tariffs Meet Fundamental Interests of US Consumers, Companies
