HK Govt Completes Offering of Currently World's Largest Digital Green Bonds Worth HKD10B

The Hong Kong government announced the successful offering and pricing of the third batch of digital green bonds, equivalent to around HKD10 billion. Among them, the HKD2.5 billion two-year tranche is at 2.5%, the RMB2.5 billion five-year tranche at 1.9%, the USD300 million three-year tranche at 3.633%, and the EUR300 million four-year tranche at 2.512%. According to the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, this issuance marked the largest digital bond issuance in the world to date. With the tenor extended to up to five years, it addressed investor demand for longer-term digital bonds. Alongside an increase in the number of direct participants to the digital assets platform and arranging banks, compared to the previous issuance, the number of investors also expanded markedly.
