HSI Ends 141 Pts Higher; GUOTAI JUNAN I Soars 27%+; CATL Leaps 9%

The HSI ended the trading day at 25,893, up 141 points or 0.6%. The HSCEI climbed 43 points or 0.5% to close at 8,655. The HSTECH rose 38 points or 0.8%, closing at 4,860. Total market turnover for the day amounted to HKD246.317 billion.

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority will hold a technical briefing on stablecoin issuers at 5pm today, and the licensed stablecoin issuers will meet the media. Benefiting from the market's favor toward financial stocks expected to receive the first batch of licenses, GUOTAI JUNAN I (01788.HK) surged 27.7% to close at HKD3.09, with turnover of HKD5.608 billion. YUNFENG FIN (00376.HK) soared 8.4%. BRIGHT SMART (01428.HK) and CMSC (06099.HK) advanced 5.5% and 3.8%. Licensed crypto trading platforms OSL GROUP (00863.HK) and HASHKEY HLDGS (03887.HK) leaped 1.3-8.5%.

Market rumors also said at least two note-issuing banks, likely HSBC and Standard Chartered, are among institutions set to receive the first batch of stablecoin issuer licenses. HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK) and STANCHART (02888.HK) gained 0.6% and 1.6%. Among other financials, HKEX (00388.HK) edged up less than 0.1%. AIA (01299.HK) added 0.5%.

In the tech sector, TENCENT (00700.HK) dipped 0.8%. The QClaw V2 version went online along with an "AI Lobster Assistant" feature. BABA-W (09988.HK) hiked 2.1%. Its AI video large model HappyHorsein is said to be released a week later.

LENOVO GROUP (00992.HK) jumped 2.3%. It aims to maintain earnings growth in its PC business in the new fiscal year and lift solutions and services revenue by 20%. SENSETIME-W (00020.HK), NTES-S (09999.HK), and KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) edged 0.3-1% higher. BIDU-SW (09888.HK), MEITUAN-W (03690.HK), JD-SW (09618.HK), and BILIBILI-W (09626.HK) receded 0.3-1.3%.

Chip stocks rallied. HUA HONG SEMI (01347.HK) swelled 1.3%. SMIC (00981.HK) ballooned 4.6%. AI stock KNOWLEDGE ATLAS (02513.HK) inched up 0.7%. XUNCE (03317.HK) rocketed 7.6%. YOFC (06869.HK) slumped 7.5%, closing at HKD222.4, with turnover of HKD8.989 billion.

Among blue-chip stocks, TINGYI (00322.HK) dived 3.3%, making it the biggest loser today. CATL (03750.HK), with today marking its ex-dividend date, ended up 9% as the best-performing blue chip.
