CN Automakers Forecast to Topple JP Peers in Global Sales This Yr, Crowned World Leaders: JP News
2025-12-30 16:07:50 Chinese automakers are set to overtake their Japanese rivals in global new car sales for the first time this year, becoming the world leaders, Nikkei Asia reported. The report compiled auto sales data, including domestic sales and exports, as well as passenger and commercial vehicles. Global sales by Chinese automakers are projected to heighten by 17% YoY to approximately 27 million units, whereas Japanese automakers are expected to maintain their annual sales at less than 25 million units, below the peak of nearly 30 million units in 2018. In the ASEAN market, Chinese automakers' sales are forecast to rally by 49% YoY to about 500,000 units, while sales in Europe are estimated to grow by 7% YoY to approximately 2.3 million units.
