HUANENG POWER (00902) interim NP RMB2.1B, up 88%

HUANENG POWER (00902)'s turnover for the first half of this year added 4.9% from a year ago to RMB67.18 billion. Net profit soared 87.6% to RMB2.122 billion, representing earnings per share of 15 cents, thanks to the carry-over effect of power tariff adjustment and effective cost control last year.

The power plants of the company within China generated 150.173 billion kWh on consolidated basis for the first half of 2012, representing a decrease of 1.46% from the same period last year, and achieved an aggregate sales volume of 141.637 billion kWh, a decrease of 1.45% from the same period last year.
